Say No to Drugs

 


Directions

This unit, we have learned about different types of drugs and alcohol and the effects they can have on your life. For your assessment, you will create choose a drug and create a drug awareness poster using Canva. The following must be included:

·      The name of the drug/alcohol 

·      One statistic 

·      Three health risks/side effects 

·      The legal consequences if caught with the drug/alcohol

·      Street name of the drug

Be creative! Think of posters you see in the hallway and what makes them stick out to you. Cite any information found in APA format. 

Canva Directions

  G-Go to www.canva.com and login using your school email and password

·      -Click “Create a design” in the top right corner

·      - Select “Poster” 

·      - Begin creating your drug and alcohol awareness poster. There are many templates you can use. Search “drug awareness posters” in the search bar and choose a template if you would like. 

·      - When you are finished, click the “share” button in the top right corner, copy the link, and post the link into Canvas. 

Differentiation

To differentiate this assessment, I would lower the amount of information students are required to present. Instead of three effects of the drugs, students could provide one or two. Students who struggle completing online activities, could complete this assignment by drawing their own poster using paper and pencil. Students who struggle with typing will be allowed to use the talk to text feature instead of typing all the information. I will be available for any one-on-one support that is needed throughout the completion of this assessment. For students who are able, they could type more facts onto their poster if they wanted to, but this would not affect their grade if they did not.

Technology Lesson

   Technology Lesson Demonstration   I selected the technology tool Kahoot as a way to reinforce the content that has already been taught. Kahoot has ready-made games already created which makes it easier on me. The Kahoot quiz I chose for this lesson includes 18 questions and 1 video to refresh the student’s memory on the content that was already taught. I believe this is an effective way to incorporate technology because the content has already been taught and this is a way for students to review the material in an engaging way. Students could partner up or complete the assignment independently depending on the needs of the student and what the teacher is wanting.
